Nieto
Miguel Nieto knives are produced in Albacete, a southern region in Spain. Albacete has been dedicated to producing knives since the 16th century. Miguel Nieto started to develop his own Miguel Nieto knives with his sons, the concept of which is based on the integration of reliability, quality and modern technology with traditional craft experiences. The business carries on promoting family traditions as well as conventional blacksmithing techniques. This is passed on from generation to generation. Miguel Nieto, as a brand, means tradition, quality and modern design. When producing blades they mostly use high quality Spanish steel (AN-58), tempered to 58-60 HRC.

Spyderco
Spyderco was founded by Sal Glesser. The name Spyderco occurred to Sal once he noticed that several high-performance sports cars had ‘Spyder’ in the name. He, in turn, created the name ‘Spyderco’ to signify high-performance cutting tools. The first ever Spyderco product was a portable device. This spiderweb-shaped device consisted of a series of angles, ball joints and alligator clips that helped technicians to work with small parts. Glesser and his wife, Gail, settled in Golden, Colorado in 1978. Spyderco started to produce knife sharpeners in 1978 and developed their first folding knife, the CO1 Worker. This was the first knife ever to feature a round hole in the blade. This feature remains the company’s trademark to this day. Spyderco is famous for their innovative ideas as well as their highly durable products.
Peter Farkas knives
Peter Farkas has been producing excellent quality custom knives for almost 20 years. Grandson of a blacksmith, Peter spent a lot of time in his grandfather’s workshop as a child and so, he inherited the roots of craftsmanship at home.
He set off on his professional journey at the age of 15 as he worked alongside his father in a workshop operated by the farmers’ co-operative in the summer. This was the time he produced his first ever knife, using steel from a saw blade and cotton linen base phenolic that served as the handle of the knife.
It wasn’t until years later that he produced the first custom pieces in his own workshop. In 2003, Kaliber Magazine published an article about his new kukri knife. In 2005, Peter attended the 2nd International Knife Exhibition in Budapest.
In 2010, Peter sent one of his knives to the German knife manufacturer, Böker. The plans and designs were already forwarded onto a competition run by the company. His design was awarded the 6th place. The German manufacturer decided to mass-produce his item based on his hand-made version. It was introduced to the market with the brand name ‘el Héroe’. Their relationship, however, did not end here. There were an additional 4 series of knives produced based on Peter’s plans:
Böker Plus Magyar (2012)
Böker Plus Bandit (2013)
Böker Arbolito el Héroe micarta (2014)
Böker Plus Biker (2015)
Farkas knives are typically functional and versatile. These two features are complemented by the unique design, high quality materials and an outstanding finish.
